How do I earn the $10 monthly reward?
Starting March 2026, you can earn $10 each month when you charge at home at least once and maintain a Smart Charging Score of 80% or higher. The best way to hit this goal is to plug in whenever you're home and let WeaveGrid automatically manage your charging schedule.
What is the Smart Charging Score and how is it calculated?
Your ‘Smart’ charging score measures how much of your home charging occurs during the optimized charging schedules created by WeaveGrid (your 'Smart' times). We calculate this score by dividing the total energy consumed during ‘Smart’ times by the total energy consumed charging at home during that period.
You can monitor your score in your weekly summary email or by visiting your WeaveGrid dashboard.
What are ‘Smart’ times?
'Smart' times are the best times to charge your EV at home, as determined by WeaveGrid. While these times often overlap with off-peak hours, they can change from day to day depending on factors like your neighborhood's charging demands and overall grid conditions.
Each time you plug in, our algorithms determine your 'Smart' times by prioritizing the following goals, in this order:
- Get your car charged to your target battery level by the time you need it, respecting any advanced features you’ve enabled
- Charge at the lowest-cost times
Charge when energy generation is cheapest or when the electric grid stress is lowest
How does this program support my local community?
FlexCharge Rewards coordinates charging across many participating vehicles to minimize the cumulative stress on your local grid. This local coordination ensures all drivers get the charge they need while supporting a more resilient, clean, and affordable electricity grid for everyone.
When and how will I receive my rewards?
Rewards are earned monthly but paid out quarterly, with the first quarterly distribution starting in April 2026. You will receive an email prompting you to redeem your payment via available options.
Can I cancel a Charging Schedule if needed?
Yes. You can override your optimized schedule at any time if you need an immediate charge. After plugging in your vehicle and receiving your charging session schedule, here's how to start charging immediately:
- Tesla vehicles: Cancel from your vehicle’s console or Tesla app. You can also text “CHARGE NOW” to 59972 to start charging immediately.
- ChargePoint or Wallbox chargers: Use your charger’s interface or app to override the schedule. You can also text “CHARGE NOW” to 59972.
- Emporia chargers: After plugging in, open the Emporia app and tap ‘Charge Now’ to cancel the schedule.
If you need to change your vehicle’s Departure time*, you can customize your schedule settings from your WeaveGrid dashboard.
Please note that frequently using "Charge Now" or overriding the schedule will lower your Smart Charging Score and may make you ineligible for that month’s $10 reward.
